Dr. Jitendra Pant is an Application Scientist (Global Liaison-Bioinstruments Innovation in Cell & Gene Therapy) at CARON PRODUCTS, US. Over the last 15+ years, Dr. Pant has worked with 4 Biotechnology and Biomedical Devices Companies, 8 research institutions in India, Germany, and the US, and have co-founded a Biomedical Device Company that attracted funding from NIH and CDC. After earning an undergraduate degree in B.Tech-Biotechnology in 2010 from the ICFAI University Dehradun, India, he joined Biocon Research Ltd, Bangalore and where he along with the members of the Bioprocess Development team developed the world’s first anti-CD6 monoclonal antibody for the treatment of Psoriasis (FDA approved) and the world’s first biosimilar of Herceptin for the treatment of Breast Cancer (FDA approved). In 2013, joined the Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS-Pilani) University, one of only 5 Indian "Institutes of Eminence" to pursue an MEng degree with a research thesis on 'Anti-bacterial vascular catheters for overcoming biomedical device-related infections (BDRIs)'. In 2015, he started a Ph.D. at the University of Georgia College of Engineering. During this time, he initiated and sustained multiple collaborations with DoD, Medical College of Georgia, Inochi Care-India, and the University of Bayreuth-Germany. His doctoral research work was focused on engineering nitric oxide (NO) releasing platforms for biomedical device fabrication and tissue engineering applications. Post his Ph.D. studies, Dr. Pant co-founded Innoveta Biomedical LLC, GA, and received SBIR funding from NIH (PI) and CDC (Co-I) to commercialize these NO-releasing platforms for developing antithrombotic and antibacterial medical devices. In 2020, he joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Michigan to develop BETA-CELL therapy for Type 1 Diabetes Treatment. Since Aug' 2021, he is leading the new product innovation at CARON PRODUCTS & its subsidiary BIGNEAT to support cell and gene therapy research.
